The Pediatrics Department of Kharkiv National Medical University was founded in 1984. The main areas of activities of our department include educational, scientific, methodological directions and diagnostic, consultation and treatment center.
At present, the department educates forth-year students of KNMU specialized in Pediatrics, sixth-year students of elective course “Actual issues of hematology and transfusiology”, and bachelors of “Nursing Care” and “Laboratory Diagnostics”. Our department helps train interns, holders of a master’s degree, residents, and post-graduate students.
Department deals with specializations, cycles before certification and thematic refresher courses on specialty «Pediatric Nephrology» and « Pediatric hematology». Asthma school works at the clinical site under the guidance of the department.
The scientific direction of our department includes working out modern aspects in preventive measures, diagnostics and treatment of children’s diseases and their further introduction. Scientific and educational activities are closely connected with methodological one. It comprises writing and publishing monographs, tutorials, and methodological recommendations. The staff of our department collaborates with medical universities situated in Europe and clinics in near-abroad as well as far-abroad countries.
The following clinical sites are at the disposal of our department: Kharkiv City Clinical Children’s Hospital № 16, City Children’s Polyclinic № 16, City Children’s Polyclinic № 15, City Children’s Polyclinic № 9. The staff of our department in collaboration with doctors of clinical sites organizes and holds conferences, delivers demonstration lessons and lectures for doctors and parents.
The Pediatrics Department along with the clinical site Kharkiv City Clinical Children’s Hospital № 16 conducts multicentral international research of medical products in order to study the efficacy and safety of their use in pediatrics.
The staff of our department is always open for collaboration, exchange of experience to improve the quality of administering medical aid and training medical and scientific manpower.
